Wednesday WIN

Who knew vinyl records were kinky? I hear they're making a comeback.

Well, if they are, yay me...I still have all mine!!! Never could bring myself to get rid of them, and I have a record player too, and listen to them occasionally!! Have to say, the quality isn't a patch on the cds, but still, the mucis drifts over me, and brings back all those nostalgic (but not kinky!!?)feelings.... xxx

A couple of weeks too late. Just tossed them because I was not moving them across the country one more time transferred to CDs. Maybe the player will sell at the garage sale this weekend. yeah

Ha! Let's hope so! I have all mine too.

I didn't know they were making a comeback. Shame as we gave/sold all ours. Have to tell P's mom to keep hold of hers as she got quite a few LPs.

Love,
Ronnie

Vinyl: I have a few hundred, and am slowly converting some of them to digital to use on my computer... Also some old 45's and quite a lot from my parents of 78's... okay so I am old..

Daisy - Good for you. I love listening to the scratches on mine. Ah, memories!

Sunny - I'm sure it will sell.

Dee - So do we.

Ronnie - Yes, many companies are discontinuing CDs and going back to vinyl.

Red - We copied our fave albums and cassettes to CDs, but kept the records. I still have a box of 45s but the 78s were all turned into ashtrays and candy dishes long ago:-)

Hermione

I have an old collection, from the 70's and 80's but nothing to play them on.

Those of us who confess to our collection of Vinyl probably are dating ourselves. I am no exception. However, with the right equipment and good care to your collection, they sound very superior to a CD. Obviously, I plan to hang on to my collection.

Its interesting that when CD's first came out, a store called 'Silver Platters' opened up in our area. That was about 25 years ago. Now, they even have a section for vinyl. It seems that they are being manufactured again.

Great post and fun to hear from others.

I love vinyl! Of course it sounds superior. It looks it too! Bring back vinyl! Bring back rattan! Etc, etc!

What are these "records" you speak of? ;-)

P.S. I swear I'm not a robot but can I get a readable Captcha without having to refresh 8 times? Grr...

OK, I got the sillies on my last
comment.
But there's nothing like taking a
favourite vinyl disc, putting it on
the rotating turntable, then very
precisely, placing the needle on
the exact selection you wish to hear, scratches and all.
You can't do that with a CD!

I found my favourite LP in the record box when I was growing up. No one remembered where it came from, but we used to play it and leap about and dance and dance and dance....

...This one was so special - an original 78 LP of Benny Goodman and his orchestra Live at The Savoy - and the opening track 'Sing, SIng, Sing' (Now made famous by 'The Artist') went on for nearly 15 minutes! I can't find that version on CD, so I still love my LP! It crackles and spits, is about three feet thick, and virtually indestructable, but what a record!

Prefectdt - That's the trouble; finding a decent turntable.

Ken - There are plenty of us in the right age group to remember vinyl.

Rod - Bring back beta and eight-track!

Emanuele - Good for you. Does it work well?

Lea - Watch and learn, Grasshopper:-)

Ricky - True. Correct positioning is very important in many things.

TMT - Thanks for sharing that memory. As a child, I had little yellow and red records that played children's songs.

Hermione

Never mind 8-tracks and betamax - did I ever mention that the earth is flat? Not a lot of people know that.
